With a heavy heart, we are searching for a new home for our wonderful dog, Dugg. He is a 5-1/2-year-old shepherd/bulldog/pitbull mix and has been a cherished member of our family since we adopted him on the doorstep of the COVID pandemic, back on March 15, 2020.
Dugg is, without a doubt, the smartest, sweetest, and strongest dog we’ve ever had. When we first brought him home, he was a 7-month-old, 65-pound puppy. Now, he’s a healthy 80+ pounds, full of energy, love, and loyalty. His intelligence never ceases to amaze us, and his sweet nature has made him a joy to be around. However, he is also very strong and energetic, which makes him best suited for a home that can match his needs.
We are looking for someone who knows dog training and understands the responsibility that comes with a big dog.
Dugg came to us right at the beginning of Covid when we fostered him from a family with small children, and he was just too much for them to handle. He was kept in a crate most of the time. He would do best in a home without small children, not because he isn’t kind but because of his strength and energy. He is generally good with other dogs, but he has had a couple of encounters with dogs who weren’t neutered, and those didn’t go well. So, he’s best suited for a home where he can have space to run and play in a fenced yard with an owner who understands large dogs and can provide the training and structure he thrives on.
Sadly, due to work schedule changes, I will be out of the house most of the day. It’s unfair to Dugg to keep him cooped up when he needs more attention and activity. We hope to find a home that will offer him the space and care he deserves—somewhere he can be as happy as he has made us.
We’ll miss him dearly, but our top priority is finding him the perfect place to live his best life. Please reach out if you or someone you know can provide the time, space, and attention, he deserves.

Dugg is trained. At 4-months old, Dugg was sent to a trainer. He knows voice and hand commands.
He needs work on a leash and is reactive to other dogs.
He has never had an accident in the house.
He could use refresher training. It's us, not him.
He responds well to training and structure. He's loves to track.
He sleeps in his crate at night and when we leave. He'd probably be fine out of his crate.
We are feeding him Nature's Logic Canine Beef Meal Feast.
A few things...
Needs work at reacting to the doorbell.
Dugg has a girlfriend, Ruby. He loves her.
If a dog is aggressive, he will be too. This has happened three times with dogs that weren't neutered and we weren't aware of that.
He sits/sleeps on furniture.
He will drink from the toilet.
He has never destroyed anything with the exception of a stuffed animal that he mistook as his.
He likes to snuggle.
